Since the question, I suppose you build an aircraft under the experimental conditions. I do not know which country you live, or in the experimental specific rules for this country, but ... How to build an engine? I suppose you want to install a car engine to last as follows paint Limbach VW or Jabiru or Rotax engine experimental plane and need some parts.
My self-built Kitfox aircraft is beautifully painted polyurethane. It is: the structure of the fuselage and wings. I think it is possible some parts of the engine as an air box with polyurethane varnish. But all this (as motors can often) not be painted with polyurethane hot. Rental you will find in many parts of the spray paint to temperatures up to 600 degrees Celsius, but I tried once in my Rotax and I have a bad odor in the cabin. ... Good luck in your projects.
